Dhaka Fabric

In Nepal, dhaka is a fabric with particular significance. It used to solely be produced in Palpa, a region of western Nepal. Palpali Dhaka is the city from which it derives its name. Beautiful hand-woven fabric from Nepal called "Dhaka" with countless color and design options. In Palpa and the hilly regions of Eastern Nepal, it was traditionally handwoven on wooden looms and passed down from one generation to the next.

Surprisingly, Dhaka serves as Bangladesh's capital. Damber Kumari, the daughter of Nepal's first prime minister Junga Bahadur Rana, lived in Banaras (Varanasi), India, during the time he ruled Nepal (1846–1877). For her clothing, she uses Chamua Dhaka fabric. This particular fabric was inspired by a hand-woven fabric called Dhaka that was made in Dhaka back in the day.
